Design-a-Game
Make your very own game and invite the community to play!
Using cardboard, found objects, and art materials, invent your very own game. You can make a board game, card game, role playing game, or even storyboard a new video game– it’s up to you!

Designed with children 13 and under with adult caregivers in mind. This event is an engaging experience for intergenerational groups of all ages, including early childhood, middle and high schoolers.

Engagement time ranges from 5 minutes to multiple hours
Average for individual participants- 45 minutes
Average for classrooms or groups 60-90 minutes
Accommodates up to 28 people at a time, up to 540 people in a day.

Design-a-Game participants will:
Gain practical understanding of game design- including game mechanics, gameplay, and player experience
Practice fine motor skills through drawing, cutting, pasting, etc.
Brainstorm, reflect, and plan their game
Prototype different game mechanics
Persist when unable to accomplish expected results
Present and explain their game to teach it to others

Can be indoor or outdoor
Site provides:
An open programing space like a classroom
2 Banquet Tables
10-20 chairs
Trash can and recycling
Hand-washing access, if possible
Set-up includes signage, 7 worktables, materials, and arrangement of provided tables and chairs
For outdoor events, set up includes a 10'x20' tent
