How can you upcycle everyday materials into art?

Let’s turn “garbage” into art! Join us as we turn everyday materials into brand new puppets and companions of your creation. Critters, people, or mythical creatures– the only limit is your imagination! Participants can use storytelling and creative drama to bring their new friend to life.

  • Designed with children 10 and under with adult caregivers in mind, this event is an engaging experience for intergenerational groups of all ages, including early childhood, middle and high schoolers.

    • Engagement time ranges from 5 minutes to multiple hours

    • Average for individual participants- 45 minutes

    • Average for classrooms or groups 60-90 minutes

    • Accommodates up to 28 people at a time, up to 540 people in a day.

  • Garbage Friends participants will:

    Engage and work with others in a shared creative experience

    Practice fine motor skills through art and sensory activities

    Practice gross motor skills in facilitated play, drama, and movement activities

    Use speaking and listening skills when exploring characters in a creative drama experience

    Explore open-ended art-making and loose parts play prompts

    Identify & describe tools and tactics used their making process

  • Can be indoor or outdoor

    An open programing space like a classroom

    Hand-washing access

    2 Banquet Tables

    10-20 chairs

    Trash can and recycling

    Set-up includes signage, 7 worktables, materials, and arranging provided tables and chairs

    For outdoor events, set up includes a 10'x20' tent
